All-State Orchestras General Information

Each year, 7th through 12th grade Florida orchestra students are given the opportunity to audition for three grade-level All-State orchestras; 7th-8th, 9-10th and the 11th-12th Orchestras. FOA member-directors may also nominate 7th-8th grade students to the 7-8 Honors Orchestra. These orchestras rehearse and perform at the annual FMEA (Florida Music Educators Association) Convention in Tampa, FL.

The FOA web site provides directors, students and parents a variety of information about the All-State orchestras. General information and application forms are available all year. After March 6, the lists of required audition music for the various orchestras will be posted. In the late fall, biographical information about the conductors and the rehearsal schedules of the various orchestras will be available on this web site.

After the evaluation of the fall All-State auditions is completed, FOA members will be able to access the list of those who have successfully auditioned for the All-State Orchestras. Students and their parents will be notified by their school orchestra director if they have been accepted into an All-State Orchestra.
